‘Lawlessness in Bengal, Protection to Infiltrators’: PM Modi Launches Sharp Attack on Mamata Banerjee in Virtual Rally

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a fierce political attack on West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC), alleging “jungle raj-like conditions” in the state and accusing the government of protecting infiltrators at the cost of the rights and future of Bengal’s people.

Addressing a massive public rally at Ranaghat in Nadia district through a mobile phone due to adverse weather conditions, the Prime Minister said his helicopter could not land because of dense fog, but his resolve to speak to the people of Bengal remained unwavering.

“Oppose Modi, Not Bengal’s Development”

PM Modi said that while the TMC may continue to oppose him politically, it should not obstruct the development of West Bengal.

“You may oppose Modi with full force, again and again. I have no problem with that. But why stop Bengal’s development? Why deprive the people of their rights? Why shatter their dreams?” the Prime Minister asked.

He alleged that the TMC is opposing the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists only to shield infiltrators, even after 58 lakh names were deleted during the verification process.

Allegations of Protecting Infiltrators

In a direct attack on Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, PM Modi claimed that the state government is trying to protect those who are “attempting to take over Bengal”.

“The TMC is using all its strength to save infiltrators. This is not politics in the interest of Bengal, but politics that harms its future,” he said, urging voters to give the BJP an opportunity to bring development and stability to the state.

“Government Busy with Cuts and Commissions”

The Prime Minister also accused the Bengal government of being deeply entrenched in corruption.

“The state government is busy only with cuts and commissions. The people of Bengal deserve better governance, transparency, and development,” he said.

Bihar’s Verdict, Message for Bengal

Referring to the recent landslide victory of the BJP-led NDA in Bihar, PM Modi said the mandate reflected the nation’s desire for rapid development.

“Ganga flows from Bihar to Bengal. Bihar has shown the way. Now it is Bengal’s turn,” he said, indicating that the political winds are changing in eastern India.

Tribute and Condolences

At the beginning of his address, PM Modi apologised to the crowd for not being physically present due to weather constraints. He also expressed deep sorrow over reports that some BJP workers met with a rail accident while traveling to the rally, resulting in casualties.

“I express my heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased and pray for the speedy recovery of those injured. In this hour of grief, the entire BJP family stands with the affected families,” he said.

Cultural Pride of Bengal Highlighted

Highlighting Bengal’s rich heritage, PM Modi said Nadia is the sacred land where Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu appeared and reminded the audience that Bengal is also the land that gave the nation the immortal slogan ‘Vande Mataram’.

Key Takeaways from PM Modi’s Address:

  • TMC is allegedly protecting infiltrators by opposing SIR
  • Bengal government accused of corruption and poor governance
  • Appeal to voters to give BJP a chance for development
  • Reference to NDA’s big win in Bihar as a signal for Bengal
