Lakhimpur Kheri, UP: A shocking case of honor killing has emerged from Lakhimpur Kheri, where a young man was shot dead by his fiancée’s brother with the help of a friend. The incident reportedly stems from family opposition to the couple’s relationship and impending marriage.
According to police, the victim, Ahmed Jahan, a resident of Palia, had been in a romantic relationship with a young woman from Lakhimpur city for the past three years. The couple was set to marry, but the bride-to-be’s brother, Khursheed, strongly opposed the union.
The fatal incident occurred on December 18, when Khursheed reportedly saw his sister leaving a hotel with Ahmed Jahan. Enraged, he, along with his friend Ayaan, took Ahmed Jahan to a secluded area outside the city and shot him dead.
The body was later found near Patel Nagar Ground, prompting the Sadar Kotwali police to launch an investigation. The victim was confirmed to be Ahmed Jahan, and initial inquiries suggested murder.
Based on a complaint from the victim’s family, police arrested Khursheed and Ayaan, relying on forensic evidence and call detail records. Both accused have been sent to judicial custody.
Sadar Kotwal Rajesh Kumar Singh confirmed that a case has been registered under relevant sections of the law and that further legal proceedings are underway.
