Jaipur Police Launch Pink Slip Initiative to Curb Drink-and-Drive on New Year

As New Year celebrations approach, Jaipur Police have rolled out a unique initiative to prevent accidents caused by drink-and-drive incidents. Known as the “Pink Slip Initiative,” hotel, restaurant, and bar visitors are being handed small pink slips along with their bills, carrying a clear message: “Do not drive after drinking.”

A Timely Measure
With a rise in accidents and fatalities during New Year celebrations linked to alcohol consumption, the Rajasthan Police, under the leadership of Police Commissioner Rahul Prakash and Additional Police Commissioner (Law & Order) Rajiv Prachar, coordinated with hospitality establishments in Jaipur to implement this awareness campaign.

What is the Pink Slip?
The pink slip measures 2×3 inches and carries a straightforward warning urging patrons not to drive after consuming alcohol. In addition, pink posters have been placed both inside and outside establishments, including at least one in restroom areas to ensure visibility.

Monitoring and Enforcement
To ensure effective implementation, police officers at the local police station level are personally coordinating with hotel, restaurant, and bar managers. Each establishment has a nodal police officer—a constable or head constable—assigned to maintain continuous liaison and monitor adherence to the initiative.

Focus on Safety and Regulation
Apart from drink-and-drive awareness, the police have emphasized women’s safety and compliance with regulations during New Year events. Instructions include maintaining functional CCTV cameras, deploying female security personnel, regulating DJ and microphone usage, and enforcing hookah bar restrictions.

Authorities highlighted that drink-and-drive not only endangers the driver but also other innocent road users. Jaipur Police’s initiative aims to combine celebration with responsibility, reminding citizens to enjoy festivities safely.
